As the old adage goes, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. If we can all agree that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is indeed as massive as had been touted as soon as its daddy, Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, was finally laid to rest, MW2 was primed for the biggest fall in videogame history. Garnering more interest than even Grand Theft Auto IV, Activision-Blizzard and Infinity Ward had a tough job on their hands of delivering the promises it’s 21st century-based shooter made before even an M16A4’s trigger had been squeezed for the first time. Blimey, that Bobby Kotick’s a bit of a bastard, isn’t he? After causing a stir in August following his ill-timed tounge-in-cheek comment about Activision Blizzard’s pricing strategy, he’s continuing to ruffle the feathers of gaming fans with arrogant claims and revealing that his company is run with neo-facist fear and misery for the love of money rather than art.

Now, while it’s hardly news that a company is out to make profits, it’s slightly more shocking or even utterly stupid to continue with comments such as, ‘our staff will take all the fun out of making games’ in the name of generating enough of the green stuff to wipe his diamond-encrusted arse with. While we’ll never know what work ethics are used behind the closed doors of many companies, we do know that a good day at Activision involves ‘scepticism, pessimism and fear’ in large doses.
