What with my chronic rambling disorder and the ability to spew out 3000 words or more on just about anything, I thought I’d enforce a gagging order upon, er, myself. These notions of utterance don’t count, but once the next paragraph has begun the clock will start ticking. To ease the pressure, the title of the review, New Super Mario Bros. If there was ever a time a touch of research was needed prior to a purchase, it was this. Deleted scene, the item description promised. Unseen gameplay mechanics, Epic Games assured. More Gears, said everyone else. They all failed to mention, however, that not only does ‘Road To Ruin’ have little relevance to the storyline, it also has little in the means of actual play time and, in fact, all Epic wanted you to do was play more of its broken multiplayer and throw in a few ‘chieves to ensure it was worthwhile shelling out 1200 Microsoft Points on. I’m seething. Perhaps I’m an idiot though, and should’ve checked even Gearspedia before caving in to my good friend’s overtures and wasting valuable points on it. They could’ve been used for other pointless crap, for God’s sake! Or even the impending Earthworm Jim. ‘MEH’, said the interwebs! (more…)

As the old adage goes, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. If we can all agree that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is indeed as massive as had been touted as soon as its daddy, Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, was finally laid to rest, MW2 was primed for the biggest fall in videogame history. Garnering more interest than even Grand Theft Auto IV, Activision-Blizzard and Infinity Ward had a tough job on their hands of delivering the promises it’s 21st century-based shooter made before even an M16A4’s trigger had been squeezed for the first time. Not the appropriate pie for this festive time of year, but  relevent in proving my previous doubts and criticisms firmly wrong, as I ‘kick back’ and ‘chillax’ on a sub-zero Saturday afternoon watching Portsmouth put troubled Liverpool down from the comfort of my bedroom, as opposed to the usual living room.
